Aubrey had her first dance recital yesterday. The only disappointment she had was that she could only be on stage for one song. Our girl likes to perform!
Aubrey and her good friend, Sophia, before their performance.
This is a very accurate picture of our family.
I need to practice using the video camera; but here is our performer.

Hiding God's Word in Our Hearts
I usually hesitate to pass on information or parenting techniques because I never want to come across as the expert on anything. Because goodness knows I am no expert. But probably the biggest highlight of my morning and evening (dinner time) with the kids is our memory verse time. Memorizing verses has always been overwhelming for me, and to think of some way of possibly teaching my kids to memorize verses was enough to make me want to throw in the towel. Then I came across this system and it is SO EASY to implement. It takes a little extra time at the beginning to set it up but once that's done it is so simple to use. And did I mention effective? Charlotte Mason Memory Verse System Bryant, recently turned 3, recites Ephesians 2:8-10 "God saved you by his special favor when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so that we can do the good things He planned for us long ago." This is no credit to me, this is the effectiveness of the system. If you are interested in finding a way to teach your little ones, and yourself, how to hide God's Word in your hearts, this is absolutely a great system to use. My kids, John, and I are working on 8 verses right now. Using the system that means the kids know 7 verses and are currently working on a new one, but we circulate through the ones we've already learned to keep them fresh in our minds. So I hope this gives you at least a jumping off point for getting your toddlers and up to start memorizing scripture. And we have a great time talking about what the verses mean, too!

We're Still Here!
Wow, it's been a while. Our camera broke which makes it harder for me to post because I always think pictures are fun to look at. So, what have we been doing? Aubrey: is registered for kindergarten. is getting ready for her dance recital in a couple of weeks. has learned how to ride her bike without training wheels and does so every chance she gets. Bryant: is learning everyone's full names: "Aubwey Gwace. Bwyant Natanael. Tewey Bear Gwaham." has discovered that he likes to be the "Dragon Warrior." Seriously no idea where that phrase has come from but he protects us from all sorts of danger. lifts his arms in the air with his fists clenched and says, "YESSSS!" whenever he does something obedient. Or his chores. Example: "Bryant, good job making your bed, Dude!" Bryant, arms raised, fists clenched, head down, "YESSS!" Me: "Bryant, you did a great job of taking the laundry out to the garage." Bryant, arms raised, fists clenched, head down, "YESSS!" Stuart: has mastered the phrase, "No, no, no." Yep. likes to be a superhero like his brother. He gets Daddy's work gloves and ear phones (used to drown out the sound when mowing the lawn) and once they are put on I say, "Super Stuart, to the rescue!" and he puts his head down and makes a, "SHHH," sound, like he's flying and goes around the house. So we are having fun, staying busy, and enjoying our family time together.
