Cupcake Wars/Chopped: Anderson Edition

Aubrey and Bryant have been asking to do a Cupcake Wars here for a long time. We did a Chopped variation, because that's how we roll. We all had a blast; it's fun to see the kids use their creativity in the kitchen. And we can't forget about Stuart, the announcer. He was pretty proud of his position. Here it is:

Super Spies

These characters came down the stairs recently. They were incognito so I cannot tell you who they really are. But they were all on a super secret mission and I was lucky to get a picture.
This one kills me. If you ask him if he is a ninja he emphatically nods his head.

White Sulphur Springs 2014

We just made it back from our family vacation to White Sulphur Springs. It is always a refreshing, memory-filled time.

The kids wasted no time making new friends...
 We went on a hayride...
 Sang songs around a campfire...
 ...rode horses...

 ...went fishing...
 Stuart being a ham.

The kids rock climbed...

This is Aubrey at the top of the wall.

 We played in creeks.
 hung out with Daddy...
 ...and Mommy...

We hardly saw Aubs because she made such sweet friends. She and Laura were almost inseparable.

 Cowboy night!
This makes me laugh because it is so typical of Stuart. He is the little guy in the middle of the big boys. He was quite sure he was directing their shenanigans.

This is Emmett's good friend, Garrett. Garrett's parents are our dear friends' Adam and Hilary.

And here are the Anderson and Thomas families. Minus Bryant who would not stand for the picture. He is somewhere behind John.
We look forward to the next time!

God Will Make Us Pancakes!

My kids surprise me with their insight. And it's times around the dinner table that I am completely blown away.

Bryant began discussing how we wouldn't get to have certain things in Heaven because there wouldn't be any stores. Like pancakes. He was very concerned that we wouldn't get to eat pancakes. Then, as if a light bulb went off above his head he said, "OH! GOD will make us pancakes! Because He makes everything!"
We had a really fun conversation about the feast God is preparing for us. We wondered about what jobs we will have in Heaven. We thought that God might say, "That John over there is good at building things with wood...I'll use him for making this building!" Bryant wants to work with Dad, as long as they have a good crew. Aubrey wants to run a cupcake shop and I think it sounds fun to be her right hand gal.

Then Bryant rounded out the conversation by saying, "But I still think God will make us pancakes."
I'm thinking pancakes might be on the menu for the feast.
