Summer Days are Here....Already?

Well, it's no secret that John & I are really really really excited to move back to the northwest. However, we both have talked about how it will be interesting to see how Aubrey does at adjusting to the weather change. Florida...hot, humid, always sunny Florida is all she knows. I think she'll like her super cool raincoat, though (thanks, Blake & Steph!) and now we'll just have to find her some rain boots. ANYWAY, back to Florida. It has been consistently reaching 85 degrees outside by 9:00am. I really don't know what hottest part of the day gets to. So we, being the Florida residents that we are, broke down and bought Aubrey a mini pool. It's more of a wading pool because the water doesn't go past Aubrey's ankles. But she has fun with the water that squirts up at her.

And we had a fun Memorial Day Weekend. Aubrey & John went to the Milton Memorial here where they spent some time honoring those who have gone before. John said yesterday that he doesn't understand why anyone in America would not be patriotic. Can't we be proud to live in a country that gives us the opportunity to change it? Even when we don't always agree with the way it is run, shouldn't we be thankful to be living somewhere that gives us so many options on how to live? We both have gotten tired of listening to people who speak out against their own country (big, bad America), rather than being thankful for what they have and moving forward to make it better. I could probably go on but that is not what this post is about. SO, all that to say, I am a very proud American. And I am proud to stand behind those who have given their all to make this country free. A bumper sticker around here says, "Home of the free, because of the brave." So thank you to those brave few who make America free for the many. Lord, please help us to remember where we have come from so we can remain a nation that is truly UNDER GOD.
We went to the river Monday. Aubrey girl loves the canoe and loves to keep her hand in the water as Daddy paddles.

I love quiet afternoons with my husband and little one. Our times out on the river will be treasured memories for me.

Okay, that pool is seriously so cool! Too bad we're so far away or we would totally be coming over to play. :(

Anna, I agree with you 100 percent!! And I absolutely LOVE the post about the things that you love the most during Aubrey's toddler stage. It seems like most moms now just complain that they don't have "alone time" and their kids drive them crazy. That's right on up there with the unpatriotic stuff if you ask me.I don't get it! You always brighten my day with your insights! :)Tell John I said hi!
